Lesson learned!
I must always remember this!
JY no longer likes flash card... especially those Chinese flash card. She don't really like Chinese reading, so whenever I lead her to Chinese reading material, she will definitely waves her hand or shakes her head and tell me "不要" (No). A bit side track... In fact she don't like flash card nowadays, neither of the languages she likes.
In fact I should have learned this before...
I have started letting her reading books, flipping books when she was just a baby... she loved it a lot, as she don't have the chance to flip book in the old nanny house. So whenever she came home, she really loved to flip book whenever she just reached home... spending quite some time with the books...
Well, I changed nanny when she was 1.5 years old, for certain reasons (Its really long story to tell). And this new nanny definitelyallowed her to read books as much as she likes. So, she is totally expose and free to touch books all the time, at nanny house and when she is back to home, we pick her back to home everyday after works.
After some time, she no longer had interest with all those books. Not even want to touch all those books.
While my principle is, I don't want to force her to do whatever that she don't like, although I want her to do something, like having a good reading habit. I will think out some ways to draw her interest instead.
So what I do is, I keep all those books for sometime. Buying new books, look for interesting books, wide varieties, trying to draw her interest. And I will keep all these books in the bed room. So, she really don't have chance to look at books when she is with nanny house. She will only expose to book and flash card when she is ready for sleep (I will definitely prepare her to have some spare time before sleep). One rule that I apply is: No other toys except books and her soft toys (tends to have sleeping partner for her, tell you the story another day). So she is quite bored before sleep, nothing to do, except singing, exercising, play pretends.... so she will touches those books... flip through... while I always do this, read her books load and purposely not to invite her to read together... She would curious with what I am looking at and come and read together with me, or take away my book and read it herself. With this... she tends to have reading habit at night before sleep... Sometime, she may want to bring one or two toys to the room... and I will say "No." to her and she really can understand and bring out those toys from the room!
Ya, I should say JY is really an obedient kid...
Opps, back to the flash card story... She is just get bored with the flash card... Its my mistake again. The flash card is just too much for her... its about 8 sets with 40 pieces each set!
And the end results is, spending too long time to flash the card till she lost interest with it...
I am taking the same steps like the reading case... keep all the flash card since yesterday night... But I haven't think out of what I suppose to do next...
But this lesson must be learned! Quit before she get bored!
